Over decades, the Early Childhood Investment Corporation (ECIC) and its partners across Michigan learned a lot about expanding and embedding Family & Parent Leadership (FPL) - not as an isolated program or project, but as a new way of doing business. Engaging parents as equal partners in co-creation and decision-making demands a different mindset. It requires us to move from our head — where we are focused on outcomes defined by funders or rigid practices outlined in regulations or programs — to our heart — where we listen to parents and engage them as equals in designing the programs and policies that are important to their families. 

ECIC launched the National Center for Family and Parent Leadership to provide a comprehensive array of capacity-building opportunities and supports to help states, organizations, and communities embed FPL as their new way of operating. Get ready to set your table with these opportunities before inviting Parent Leaders to have a seat.
